IP Unity and Atreus Systems Partner to Deliver Automated TELUS to deploy joint solution in nationwide network MILPITAS, Calif. and OTTAWA, ON. December 14, 2004 - IP Unity, a leading provider of IP services for blended and converged networks, and Atreus Systems™, the service fulfillment experts, have completed a Joint Marketing Agreement (JMA) to automate the provisioning of advanced IP features for top-tier carriers worldwide. TELUS, the largest telecommunications company in Western Canada and second largest in Canada, has deployed IP Unity’s unified messaging features and will soon implement the joint solution of IP Unity features with Atreus' service fulfillment solution in its production network. In the fourth quarter of 2003, TELUS became the first Canadian telecommunications provider to launch carrier-grade hosted and managed Internet Protocol (IP) Telephony Services. The company continued deployment in 2004, with plans for additional deployment through 2006. “It is key to have IP Unity and Atreus integrate customer-facing features and provisioning processes for unified messaging,” noted Ibrahim Gedeon, Chief Technology Officer for TELUS. “This will be very helpful to rapid expansion of UM in our IP-One services, to ensure smooth operation, process automation and scalability matched to our growth in subscribership.” IP Unity is the carrier's first choice for critical applications such as messaging, conferencing, video and integrated communications features over all-IP and blended IP/TDM networks. Its innovative and cost-disruptive approach delivers many services via a single platform. IP Unity's HMS6000™ Media Server is core to this platform -- it tightly integrates with traditional and IP wireline, cable and wireless networks, and easily enables bundling and customization of features by market and by user group. Atreus’ comprehensive set of off-the-shelf creation, provisioning and activation capabilities for VoIP and advanced IP applications empowers service providers to drive revenue growth and improve their bottom line. With pre-packaged support for leading VoIP and IP vendors, Atreus enables providers to speed their time to market, simplify market trials and enable offerings targeted at specific business and residential customers via direct, reseller and partner channels. By automating the provisioning of IP Unity’s media/applications server system, service providers quickly and cost-effectively deploy advanced communications features on demand. The combined solution empowers providers to bundle everything from VoIP and messaging to access and desktop applications. “Atreus’ approach meshes well with IP Unity’s strategy, in that both companies help carriers increase revenue per customer by extending their existing systems to support VoIP and other advanced IP applications,” stated Keith Bhatia, Senior Vice President of Business Development at IP Unity. “We are successfully deploying volume shipments at ILECs, MSOs and hybrid carriers because of these capabilities and because of our ‘many services, one system’ value proposition.” "We’re pleased to be working with IP Unity and play an important role in the launch of the first nation-wide commercial hosted IP telephony service in Canada," said Len Castelli, Vice President of Business Development, Atreus Systems. “We’re committed to offering our service provider customers flexible, carrier-grade solutions that bundle advanced VoIP features today, while supporting their growing requirements for converged voice-video-data services.” About IP Unity About Atreus Systems Contact Info:
