Corecess Global, Inc. Gains Interoperability Certification IP-Based Network Solution Provides Broadband Access and Converged Services BILLING WORLD, Baltimore, MD June 18, 2002 - Atreus Systems", a service fulfillment leader for next-generation networks, and xwave, one of Canada's largest and fastest-growing IT-services companies, have joined forces to help carriers and service providers automate and streamline the complex processes used to create and deliver managed IP services. The agreement combines xwave's IT services with Atreus' xAuthority" service fulfillment software. Encompassing operational, business and marketing-support functions, the joint solution will address the OSS integration, interoperability and flexibility challenges faced by service providers in delivering advanced IP services. Service providers can reduce operational costs by automating complex business and technical processes inherent in network operations, including order management, service provisioning and service activation. "Our alliance with Atreus enables xwave to provide complete subscriber management and activation of IP services," said Mike Morris, vice president of telecom services at xwave. "This agreement is complementary to our capabilities and focus on the integration of corporate and operational systems, and our ability to deliver services based on the industry-recognized telecom operations map. With Atreus xAuthority, we can now offer clients a service fulfillment solution that gets them to market more quickly-with demand-driven service offerings." The two companies recently collaborated on a solution for Aliant Telecom, delivering a common, converged infrastructure for authenticating, ordering, activating, consuming and billing IP-application services across multiple lines of business. Aliant Telecom customers can now order and use a variety of applications, services and content in a tightly integrated self-service environment using various access methods and devices. "This strategic relationship offers telecommunications providers the tools and expertise necessary to deploy next-generation, managed IP services," said Ken Workun, director of business development at Atreus Systems. "xwave's leadership in the delivery of telecommunications OSS systems and Atreus' proven service fulfillment platform enable service providers to leverage existing OSS and network investments through the delivery of subscription-based IP services." Enabling telecom billing and back-office systems to deliver next-generation IP networks is a major opportunity. Canadian telecommunications service providers devote about 10 per cent of their annual capital spending budgets - or almost C$600 million a year - on their back-office and OSS systems, according to IDC Canada. "Alliances such as this combination between xwave and Atreus are important because billing is no longer viewed as ancillary to a telecom provider's business, and instead, has moved to the centre of every process, tactic and strategy of the enterprise," said Lawrence Surtees, director of telecom research at IDC Canada. "Telecom service providers who embrace Web-based customer care and billing options now will have a head start to prepare for the delivery of the next generation of advanced applications, including interactive CRM. Those IP-based OSS services will herald both efficiency savings and new revenue opportunities for carriers by enabling customer self-provisioning and real-time data mining," said Mr. Surtees.
