SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 11, 2001 - Atreus Systems™, Inc., a leading developer of intelligent broadband service creation and delivery platforms for service providers and carriers, today announced that telecommunications leader Aliant Telecom, a division of Aliant Inc. based in Atlantic Canada and a provider of integrated communications and IT solutions, has selected the Atreus xAuthority 2.0 platform to deliver Internet and Broadband services to its small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) customers. Using the Atreus platform, the Aliant Telecom e-Business Portal will present a selection of applications, services and content directed to Aliant Telecom's SME customers in a targeted, personalized and streamlined fashion via a single login point.

With Aliant's e-Business Portal SME customers will ultimately be able to self register for Aliant Telecom services, self activate and modify requested services, and query their account information using a secure single sign on along with access to a vast array of business focussed content and services.

In developing the Aliant Telecom e-Business Portal, using its xAuthority 2.0 platform, Atreus has created service drivers for Aliant's Hosted Microsoft Exchange and the ACCPACC Advantage Series ASP solutions. This enables Aliant Telecom to offer a secure single sign on to these managed and hosted services via the Aliant Telecom e-Business Portal. Part of this work also included service driver development for Microsoft Active Directory, needed to implement customer self-registration, and the porting of the xAuthority solution to the Sun Solaris O/S to meet the high availability requirements necessary in a carrier environment.
